Most positions in our manufacturing plants fall under the job category of production laborer. The job of production laborer is to produce quality pre-cast concrete structures efficiently and safely. Key responsibilities include
- Preparing forms and embedded materials
- Casting and finishing concrete product
- Removing product from forms
- Conveying raw materials and finished product within the yard
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment
Physical Requirements – You are applying for a position that requires heavy physical work. This includes lifting, placing and stacking objects that may weigh up to 100 pounds or more. You will be required to climb stairs and ladders, and to walk on catwalks and scaffolds. Standing, walking, and bending for long periods of time may be required.
Safety – Certain personal protective equipment is required to be worn as a condition of employment. This personal protective equipment is required for your safety, and the safety of others in the plant. Required personal protective equipment includes hard hats, safety glasses, safety-toed shoes (boots), and hearing protection. Certain work areas or conditions may also require the use of other safety equipment such as a mask or respirator. You will also be expected to know and follow our work and safety processes.
If you are offered employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment physical that evaluates your ability to perform the functions of the production laborer position, including a test for controlled substances. Employment offers are contingent on successfully passing all applicable screens. Failure to meet these requirements will result in a withdrawal of our offer of employment.
Attendance – As a manufacturing company, it is critical that we provide quality product to our customers on their delivery dates. One of the most important things in helping us accomplish that is regular and consistent attendance of all of our employees. We manage attendance closely, and employees’ performance is managed in a corrective action process after ___# absences. We dismiss employees who fail to meet our attendance standards. If you are unable to meet those requirements, you should seriously consider not accepting any job offer that may be extended.
Environment – We are a manufacturing company that works in a construction environment. Our production laborers are
expected to work both in the plant and outside. It may be 100 degrees and dusty or 0 degrees and frozen. Our
environmental conditions are extreme. Additionally we require a lot of flexibility – you don’t get to do just one job. We are working to have a team environment where every employee can be assigned to a different task as required to meet our customer requirements. That also applies to our schedules. During our busy season, we may work a lot of overtime and all of our employees are expected to work until the job is done.
